A Kalispell man has been sentenced to a significant prison term for his involvement in drug trafficking activities on the Blackfeet Indian Reservation. U.S. Attorney Kurt Alme announced that Cameron Lee Richard Carr, age 34, received a 128-month prison sentence followed by five years of supervised release. Carr had previously pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and fentanyl.
Chief U.S. District Judge Brian Morris presided over the case. Court documents reveal that Carr's criminal activities came to light in early November 2023 when law enforcement received information about his drug trafficking operations between Kalispell and Browning, Montana. On November 28, 2023, law enforcement officers attempted a traffic stop after observing Carr leave the Going to the Sun Inn in Browning. Carr attempted to evade arrest by fleeing but was eventually apprehended. During the arrest, a Blackfeet Law Enforcement Services officer discovered a handgun near where Carr was captured and confiscated methamphetamine and fentanyl.
Further search of Carr's vehicle led to the discovery of additional weapons and drugs, including 11 firearms, 500 grams of methamphetamine, 168 grams of fentanyl in various forms, and smaller quantities of heroin, oxycodone, morphine, and cocaine. Carr later admitted during an interview on December 1, 2023, to distributing drugs in Browning.
This case was prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office and involved collaborative efforts from the FBI, DEA, Blackfeet Law Enforcement Services, and the Glacier County Sheriff’s Office. The investigation fell under the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) initiative, which targets high-level criminal organizations in the United States using a multi-agency approach.
