The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has rescheduled its upcoming workshop focused on the attention economy and its impact on children and families. Initially planned for May 28, the workshop will now take place on June 4, 2025.

Titled "The Attention Economy: How Big Tech Firms Exploit Children and Hurt Families," the workshop will occur at 9 a.m. ET at the FTC’s Constitution Center building in Washington, D.C. To accommodate a wider audience, it will be available both in-person and virtually via a livestream on the FTC’s website.

This event will host parents, child safety experts, and government leaders. Discussions will center around how major technology companies use addictive design features, undermine parental control, and fail to protect children from harmful content.

In-person attendance requires registration, and further information can be found on the workshop’s event page. The FTC plans to release an agenda ahead of the event date.

The Federal Trade Commission continues its mission to promote competition, as well as to protect and educate consumers. The commission emphasizes that it will never demand money, make threats, request money transfers, or promise prizes. Consumers can learn more about various topics or report scams, fraud, and poor business practices online at ReportFraud.ftc.gov. For updates, the public can follow the FTC on social media, read their blogs, or subscribe to press releases.
