The U.S. Department of Labor has allocated $1,564,526 to aid service members and their spouses in their transition from military to civilian life, particularly at and around Fort Bliss. This funding is part of the effort to provide continued access to essential resources such as employment and training services.
An earlier announcement in March 2023 by the department's Employment and Training Administration highlighted the National Dislocated Worker Grant, which included an initial sum of over $1.5 million as a component of a larger commitment up to approximately $4.7 million. A further incremental award was introduced in August 2024, completing the project funding at $4,693,580.
The campaign focuses on El Paso County, with Workforce Solutions Borderplex, one of the 28 public workforce development boards in Texas, taking the lead. This organization will offer employment and training services to affected service members and their spouses.
Additionally, the initiative is endorsed by the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act of 2014 under the banner of Employment Recovery National Dislocated Worker Grants. These grants are designated for eligible applicants aiming to mitigate significant economic disruptions, such as those resulting from elevated service demands among transitioning military personnel and their families.
