A Las Vegas man, James Mosqueda, has been sentenced to five years in federal prison followed by four years of supervised release. Mosqueda's sentencing was delivered by United States District Judge Richard F. Boulware II. This outcome stemmed from charges involving the manufacturing and selling of firearms without serial numbers and machine gun conversion devices, which he created using a 3-D printer.

Court documents reveal that Mosqueda's illegal activities spanned from September 2023 through November 2023. During this period, Mosqueda was involved in the unlicensed sale of firearms and related items. In September 2023, he sold a privately made firearm and a .45 caliber pistol. The subsequent month, he sold additional firearms, silencers, and a variety of machine gun conversion devices. These devices, known to convert semi-automatic firearms into fully automatic ones, included items for Glock weapons and AR-style guns. Mosqueda also distributed over a kilogram of methamphetamine, classified as a Schedule II controlled substance.

Mosqueda admitted his guilt to several charges: one count of dealing or manufacturing firearms without a license, one count of firearms trafficking, one count of methamphetamine distribution, and five counts involving the illegal transfer or possession of a machine gun.

This case was announced by United States Attorney Sigal Chattah for the District of Nevada. It was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), and the prosecution was handled by the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Nevada.
