Gang member pleads guilty to drug and firearm charges in federal court

A Boston-based gang member has admitted to drug distribution and firearm charges in federal court. Jerry Gray, aged 28 from Roxbury, entered a guilty plea to the charges of distributing cocaine and possessing a firearm and ammunition despite being a felon. U.S. District Court Judge Angel Kelley has set the sentencing for July 31, 2025.

Gray was among ten individuals from the H-Block gang charged in August 2024, following an investigation that began in 2021 due to increased gang-related activities in Boston. Authorities reported the seizure of significant quantities of cocaine, crack cocaine, fentanyl, and over 20,000 doses of drug-laced paper.

In February 2024, Gray reportedly sold crack cocaine to a cooperating witness. He later stole the "buy" money from the witness during another controlled transaction in March 2024. When Gray was arrested in August 2024, a Glock pistol and various ammunition were found at his residence. At the time, Gray was on probation for two previous firearm offenses.

The H Block gang, once known as the Humboldt Raiders, is noted for its influence and history of violence, including a 2015 shooting of a Boston Police officer. The charges Gray admitted to entail possible sentences of up to 20 years for drug-related offenses and up to 15 years for firearm possession, along with substantial fines and supervised release.

This plea marks Gray as the fifth defendant in this case to plead guilty. The announcement was made by several officials, including U.S. Attorney Leah B. Foley and representatives from the DEA, FBI, and Boston Police, among others. The case was managed under the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) initiative, focusing on dismantling top-tier criminal organizations.

Gray remains to be sentenced, and the other individuals implicated in this investigation retain their presumption of innocence until proven guilty in court.
