Erin Cameron sentenced to 132 months for drug trafficking and firearms charges

U.S. Attorney Michael DiGiacomo announced that Erin Cameron, a 33-year-old Buffalo resident, has been sentenced to 132 months in prison. Cameron was found guilty of conspiring to distribute over 100 grams of heroin and over 10 grams of fentanyl, in addition to possessing a firearm for drug trafficking purposes. The sentence was administered by U.S. District Judge John L. Sinatra, Jr.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Joshua A. Violanti, who prosecuted the case, reported that Cameron's involvement in the drug conspiracy spanned from July to December 30, 2018. During this period, Cameron collaborated with others to distribute heroin and fentanyl. He provided butyryl fentanyl to a co-conspirator for future sale, and a controlled purchase of suspected heroin or fentanyl from an associate of Cameron took place on October 22, 2018.

On December 30, 2018, Cameron traveled from Buffalo to Salamanca, New York, with others to distribute narcotics in and around the area. During this trip, Cameron was found in possession of a pistol loaded with six rounds of ammunition and various packages of narcotics, including acetyl fentanyl, crack cocaine, and oxycodone. Salamanca Police detained the vehicle carrying Cameron and discovered the firearm and drugs on him.

The investigation leading to Cameron's sentencing involved the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Office of Justice Services, the Southern Tier Drug Regional Task Force, led by Chautauqua County Sheriff James Quattrone, the Drug Enforcement Administration, under Special Agent-in-Charge Frank Tarentino of the New York Field Division, and the Salamanca Police Department, headed by Chief Jamie Deck.
