Mercadys A. Perkins, a 32-year-old resident of Weston, Wisconsin, has been sentenced to six years in federal prison for conspiring to distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine. This was announced by Timothy M. O’Shea, United States Attorney for the Western District of Wisconsin. U.S. District Judge William M. Conley pronounced the sentence, which includes a subsequent five-year period of supervised release. Perkins had entered a guilty plea on January 21, 2025.
The investigation into Perkins began in early 2024 by the Central Wisconsin Narcotics Task Force. It focused on a group distributing methamphetamine in the Marathon County area, where Perkins was identified as a participant. In March and April 2024, Perkins sold methamphetamine to an informant, with one transaction involving 230 grams.
On April 16, 2024, authorities executed a search warrant at Perkins's home, discovering over 300 grams of methamphetamine, cash, drug ledgers, and paraphernalia. Perkins admitted to trafficking large quantities of methamphetamine.
Investigators discovered that a co-conspirator supplied Perkins and another individual with approximately 16 pounds of methamphetamine and 6 ounces of cocaine between February and April 2024.
At the time, Perkins was on state probation for methamphetamine possession and out on bond from four ongoing state cases, three involving meth trafficking. Her probation was revoked, and she is currently serving a two-year state prison sentence. Judge Conley directed that the federal sentence run concurrently with her state sentence.
Judge Conley noted Perkins's role in distributing significant amounts of methamphetamine in and around Marathon County, balancing this against mitigating factors like her drug addiction.
Three others related to this conspiracy, Joshua Lake, Jessica Colby, and Dustin Brunker, have pleaded guilty and await sentencing.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Central Wisconsin Narcotics Task Force led the investigation, involving multiple local and state law enforcement agencies including the FBI, Wisconsin State Patrol, and others. The ATF Madison Crime Gun Task Force and the Marathon County District Attorney’s Office also contributed. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Steven P. Anderson.
