U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Hidalgo International Bridge have apprehended a U.S. citizen, Gonzalo Galvan Beltran, wanted for aggravated kidnapping. Beltran, a 55-year-old resident of Pharr, Texas, was detained on an outstanding felony warrant upon his arrival from Mexico on April 15.

Port Director Carlos Rodriguez of Port of Hidalgo/Pharr/Anzalduas emphasized the commitment of CBP in screening travelers entering the U.S.: “CBP screens all travelers entering the United States. We are committed to bringing in those wanted individuals to face their criminal charges.”

Officers initially identified Beltran as a possible match to an existing arrest warrant. Subsequent biometric verification confirmed his identity, along with the active warrant from the Hidalgo County Sheriff's Department. He has been wanted since March 2023 for aggravated kidnapping, which is classified as a first-degree felony in Texas. A Hidalgo County deputy sheriff later assumed custody of Beltran, transporting him to the county jail.

It is important to note that criminal charges are allegations, and defendants are considered innocent until proven guilty.
