Robert J. "Bob" Troester U.S. Attorney | U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Oklahoma
Amanda Stowers of Garvin County has been sentenced to 15 years in federal prison on charges of sexually abusing a minor, as announced by U.S. Attorney Robert J. Troester. A federal grand jury charged Stowers with three counts of sexual abuse of a minor, following an investigation by the FBI and Stratford Police Department. The federal court maintains jurisdiction since the victim is a member of the Chickasaw Nation and the crimes occurred in Chickasaw Nation territory.
The investigation began in April 2020 by the Stratford Police Department, leading to Stowers' indictment on May 4, 2021. She pleaded guilty on September 10, 2024, admitting to the assaults which took place from April 20, 2017, to April 19, 2020.
U.S. District Judge Jodi W. Dishman delivered the sentence at a hearing on April 15, 2025. Stowers will serve 180 months in prison with an additional five years of supervised release. "The lengthy term of incarceration was warranted due to the serious nature of the offense," Judge Dishman stated.
The prosecution was led by Assistant U.S. Attorney Arvo Mikkanen. This case stems from the collaborative investigation efforts of the FBI Oklahoma City Field Office and the Stratford Police Department.
