Sean P. Costello U.S. Attorney | U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Alabama
On April 22, 2025, the United States District Court sentenced John Rodney Weeks III to 15 years of imprisonment for conspiracy to traffic methamphetamine. Judge William H. Steele delivered the sentence. Court documents revealed that from February to March 2024, the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) utilized a confidential informant to conduct five controlled methamphetamine purchases from Weeks.
On March 27, 2024, MCSO officers executed a search warrant at Weeks’ home in Mobile County. The search uncovered approximately 62 grams of methamphetamine, digital scales, $720 in cash considered drug proceeds, and ledger notes related to drug transactions. Due to a prior federal drug trafficking conviction in 2005, Weeks faced a Sentencing Enhancement by the United States, mandating a 15-year minimum sentence according to Title 21 USC §841 (b)(1)(A).
The investigation was a collaborative effort involving the Department of Homeland Security, Homeland Security Investigations, and the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney George F. May.
