An Uxbridge resident, Scott Morrill, aged 52, faces charges in federal court in Worcester for the possession of child sexual abuse material while on federal supervised release. The charges stem from a prior conviction for distribution of child pornography in 2013 for which Morrill served five years in federal prison.
Morrill was arrested on April 7, 2025, and remains detained following a hearing on April 17, 2025. Charging documents allege that a search of Morrill's residence uncovered a laptop containing images and videos of child sexual abuse material. Morrill was under federal supervision at the time of the alleged offense.
The charge carries a potential sentence ranging from 10 to 20 years in prison, with supervised release from five years to life, and a possible fine of up to $250,000. Sentencing decisions will be made by a federal district court judge, guided by U.S. Sentencing Guidelines.
The announcement of Morrill's charges was made by U.S. Attorney Leah B. Foley, Michael J. Krol, Special Agent in Charge of Homeland Security Investigations in New England, and Colonel Geoffrey D. Noble, Superintendent of the Massachusetts State Police. The Uxbridge Police Department also provided substantial assistance. Assistant U.S. Attorney Kristen Noto of the Worcester Branch Office is handling the prosecution.
This case falls under Project Safe Childhood, an initiative by the Department of Justice started in May 2006 to combat child exploitation and abuse. Managed by U.S. Attorneys' Offices and the DOJ’s Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section, the initiative aims to prosecute offenders and rescue victims. More information on Project Safe Childhood is available at https://www.justice.gov/psc.
The allegations detailed in the charging documents remain claims until proven beyond a reasonable doubt in court. Morrill is presumed innocent until that time.
