The United States Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) has designated Seyed Asadoollah Emamjomeh, an Iranian national significant in the liquified petroleum gas (LPG) industry, along with his corporate network. OFAC’s move stems from allegations that Emamjomeh and his network are responsible for exporting large quantities of Iranian LPG and crude oil to international markets, a major revenue stream for Iran that funds its nuclear and weaponry programs and supports regional groups like Hizballah, the Houthis, and Hamas.

“Emamjomeh and his network sought to export thousands of shipments of LPG—including from the United States—to evade U.S. sanctions and generate revenue for Iran,” stated Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent. “The United States remains committed to holding accountable those who seek to provide the Iranian regime with the funding it needs to further its destabilizing activities in the region and around the world.”

The designation is part of an ongoing maximum pressure campaign and is pursuant to Executive Order 13902 targeting sectors of the Iranian economy. This action aligns with the Treasury’s implementation of National Security Presidential Memorandum 2, aimed at imposing significant economic pressure on Iran.

For over ten years, Emamjomeh has operated a network involving LPG sales, transportation, and delivery through multiple companies in Iran and the United Arab Emirates. His UAE-based company, Caspian Petrochemical FZE, along with several other related companies, have been engaged in extensive trading activity with the Persian Gulf Petrochemical Industry Commercial Co. (PGPICC). PGPICC, also designated by OFAC, is tied to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), having provided financial support to its engineering arm, Khatam al-Anbiya.

Emamjomeh previously owned Pearl Petrochemical FZE, now under the ownership of his son, Meisam Emamjomeh. Meisam, who leads both United Kingdom-based Worldwide LPG Limited and serves on various boards within Emamjomeh’s companies, is also listed under EO 13902 for operations in the petroleum sector.

Because of the sanctions, all properties and interests of the designated parties within the United States must be blocked and reported to OFAC. The sanctions apply to any entity, directly or indirectly, with significant ownership by blocked individuals. Violation of these sanctions can result in civil or criminal penalties. OFAC’s core objective is to encourage positive behavioral changes through these sanctions, allowing for possible removal if compliant.

More information on the designated individuals and entities is available through OFAC's resources.
