U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the Port of Buffalo arrested a citizen of Bangladesh at the Peace Bridge border crossing. The individual, Md-Jamilur Rahman, admitted to previous arrest and murder charges in 2004 in Bangladesh.

On April 19, the 57-year-old Rahman, after being denied entry into Canada, was encountered by CBP officers. During a secondary inspection, Rahman disclosed that he had not mentioned his arrest and murder charges when applying for a U.S. visa. This omission led to the determination of fraud committed to gain entry into the U.S.

Buffalo Port Director Gaetano Cordone commented, "Our vigilant and skilled CBP officers took the extra steps to identify and apprehend a violent illegal alien." He added that their work ensured Rahman would be deported to his home country.

Rahman was processed by CBP and handed over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement/Enforcement Removal Operations (ICE/ERO). He is currently detained at the Federal Detention Facility in Batavia, New York, where he awaits removal proceedings.
