Lackawanna County man sentenced for drug trafficking

Corey Wylam, 34, from Scranton, Pennsylvania, has been sentenced to six years in prison after pleading guilty to a drug-related offense. Senior United States District Judge Robert D. Mariani also sentenced him to four years of supervised release.

According to Acting United States Attorney John C. Gurganus, Wylam was involved in a conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute over 50 grams of methamphetamine between June and July of 2021 in Luzerne County and other locations. "Wylam arranged the transfer of a firearm to another conspirator in exchange for a quantity of methamphetamine and the forgiveness of a drug debt," said Gurganus.

The investigation was conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, along with the Kingston Police Department. Assistant United States Attorney James M. Buchanan led the prosecution.

The prosecution of Wylam falls under the Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN) Program. This program, which is part of the Department of Justice’s efforts to reduce violent crime, brings together federal, state, and local resources to address critical violent crime issues in the community. PSN follows an evidence-based approach and involves a wide range of stakeholders focusing on significant crime problems and solutions.
