U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in Boston has deported Lenaria Aparecida Pereira Sandoval, a Brazilian fugitive, convicted in Brazil on charges of aggravated first-degree murder, desecration of a corpse, and theft of a motor vehicle. Sandoval's removal from the United States took place on March 27, as she was handed over to Brazilian authorities.

"Lenaria Aparecida Pereira Sandoval committed some horrifying crimes in her native country and then attempted to evade justice by hiding out in our Massachusetts community," said Patricia H. Hyde, acting Field Office Director for ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations in Boston. Hyde emphasized that the agency prioritizes public safety and aims to prevent New England from becoming a refuge for criminals. "Now she will be forced to face justice for the crimes she committed," Hyde added.

Sandoval initially entered the United States legally on December 27, 2015, in Orlando, Florida, but subsequently violated the terms of her lawful admission. She was convicted in absentia on September 21, 2021, by a Brazilian court and sentenced to 17 years in prison, leading to an arrest warrant issued by Brazilian authorities.

ICE Boston officers arrested Sandoval on February 27, 2023, executing an arrest warrant and issuing a notice for her appearance before a Department of Justice immigration judge. Following this, an immigration judge ordered her removal on August 27, 2024.

The public can report crimes and suspicious activities by calling 866-DHS-2-ICE (866-347-2423) or by using the online tip form. Further information on ICE’s public safety mission is available on their X account @EROBoston.
