USDA's Blanche visits EDPA, discusses priorities with Metcalf

United States Attorney David Metcalf welcomed Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche during his visit to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania (EDPA) on Friday. Blanche was accompanied by Principal Associate Deputy Attorney General Emil Bove.

The visit included meetings with U.S. Attorney Metcalf and his leadership team to discuss significant issues and cases within the Eastern District. The Deputy Attorney General and Principal Associate Deputy AG spoke with district prosecutors and professional staff about Department of Justice priorities. These priorities included combating transnational gangs, violent crime, drug trafficking, and illegal immigration. Blanche acknowledged the district's commitment to upholding the law and enhancing community safety.

Additionally, Blanche and Bove met with leaders from federal, state, and local law enforcement to stress the value of partnerships in public safety improvements. They also visited Philadelphia’s Kensington area to observe the ongoing impact of the opioid crisis.

“We were honored to host Deputy Attorney General Blanche for the first visit of his tenure to a U.S. Attorney’s office,” stated U.S. Attorney Metcalf. He highlighted the importance of addressing public safety challenges and the need for cooperation among various levels of the Department of Justice to combat criminal activities affecting their jurisdiction.
