A Billings resident, Ryder Lyle Allard, was sentenced to 57 months in prison with four years of supervised release for distributing methamphetamine. Allard, 37, entered a guilty plea in December 2024 to the charge of methamphetamine distribution. U.S. District Judge Susan Watters oversaw the proceedings.

Evidence presented by the government indicated that between March and October 2022, Allard was involved in methamphetamine distribution. This was corroborated through controlled purchases managed by undercover law enforcement and confidential informants throughout 2022. A pivotal transaction occurred on September 13, 2022, where Allard sold approximately 1.5 ounces of methamphetamine to undercover officers for $1,365 at a gas station in Billings.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Zeno Baucus handled the prosecution, with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) leading the investigation.

This case falls under the Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN) initiative, which unites various levels of law enforcement with the aim of reducing violent crime and enhancing community safety. The Department of Justice launched a crime reduction strategy within PSN on May 26, 2021, focusing on building trust within communities, backing community-based organizations to prevent violence, setting strategic enforcement priorities, and evaluating outcomes.
