U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), in collaboration with federal partners, has apprehended a Guatemalan national in Massachusetts. Byron Aroldo Charres-Giron, 41, who was convicted of multiple felony offenses, was taken into custody in Framingham on February 3.

ICE partnered with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives for this operation. Patricia H. Hyde, acting Field Office Director of ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations Boston, commented on the arrest, saying, "Byron Aroldo Charres-Giron broke the law by illegally entering the United States and has habitually broken the law in Massachusetts since settling in our region... We will continue to prioritize public safety by arresting and removing criminal alien offenders like Charres-Giron."

Charres-Giron entered the United States without inspection or authorization on an unknown date and location. His criminal record in Framingham includes a September 27, 2013 conviction for concealing leased property, an August 25, 2014 conviction for breaking and entering with intent to commit a felony and malicious destruction of property, and an August 4, 2022 conviction for indecent exposure, which resulted in a one-year probation sentence.

The joint operation, conducted by ICE Boston alongside the FBI, ATF, and DEA, culminated in the arrest of Charres-Giron. The public is encouraged to report crimes or suspicious activities by contacting 866-DHS-2-ICE or using the online tip form.
