Acting United States Attorney Michael M. Simpson has revealed that Jorry Harrison, a postal employee from Houma, Louisiana, has pled guilty to the charge of mail destruction. This plea was entered on April 24, 2025, under Title 18, United States Code, Section 1703(a).
According to legal documents, Harrison, while employed as a Postal Service worker, unlawfully opened postal packages intended for delivery. These actions occurred around October 25, 2023, as he worked on a Small Parcel and Bundle Sorter.
Harrison's sentencing is scheduled for July 31, 2025. He may face up to five years in prison, a fine of up to $250,000, three years of supervised release, and a $100 mandatory special assessment fee.
The United States Postal Service Office of the Inspector General conducted the investigation. The prosecution is being handled by Assistant United States Attorneys Christine Calogero and Duane A. Evans from the General Crimes Unit.
