Tech industry responds to Trump's federal procurement executive orders

The global tech trade association ITI responded to new Executive Orders from U.S. President Trump. These orders aim to streamline the Federal Acquisition Regulation and modernize public procurement processes.

Gordon Bitko, ITI's Executive Vice President of Policy, said: "The tech industry has long called for simplification of the federal procurement process and the adoption of cutting-edge commercial technologies to enhance government efficiency. The new Executive Orders are a step in the right direction."

Bitko emphasized that collaboration with procurement experts from both government and industry will be crucial. He noted that this effort could help improve public-private partnerships, reduce waste, and ensure progress towards using modern commercial off-the-shelf solutions.

He further explained: "Federal agencies increasingly rely on the innovative capabilities that the tech industry offers to serve the American public effectively. By leveraging secure commercially available products and services, the U.S. government can benefit from faster implementation, continuous security updates amid constant cyber threats and rapid technological change, and improved cost efficiency."
