A man from Las Vegas, Denzel Renyal Michael Loyd, has been sentenced to 160 months in prison followed by 15 years of supervised release. The sentence was handed down by Chief United States District Judge Andrew P. Gordon following Loyd's conviction on four counts of coercion and enticement. Loyd used Facebook to solicit minors for prostitution, sexually explicit images, and videos.
United States Attorney Sigal Chattah for the District of Nevada stated, "Today’s sentence reflects the seriousness of the offense." She highlighted that Loyd, a self-proclaimed pimp, solicited numerous minors over several months, inducing them to send explicit material and engage in sex acts, sometimes in exchange for basic necessities like food.
FBI Special Agent in Charge Spencer L. Evans remarked, "Denzel Renyal Michael Loyd deserves each and every day of his 13-year prison term," emphasizing the message this sentence sends to those who harm children. Loyd is also required to register as a sex offender.
The case was investigated by the FBI and Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department and prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorneys Jean Ripley and Supriya Prasad. The prosecution also involved the Department of Justice Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section.
This sentencing is part of Project Safe Childhood, an initiative aimed at combating child sexual exploitation and abuse. Launched in 2006 by the Department of Justice, the project coordinates efforts across federal, state, and local resources to locate and prosecute offenders and rescue victims.
