U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the Eagle Pass Port of Entry have apprehended a fugitive accused of capital murder. The arrest occurred on April 30 at the Eagle Pass International Bridge when officer identified Aden Jeremiah Munoz, an 18-year-old U.S. citizen, attempting to enter the United States from Mexico. Munoz was a passenger in a vehicle driven by an American citizen.

Upon routine inspection, CBP officers referred Munoz to secondary inspection, where they confirmed an active felony warrant for capital murder by terror threat/first-degree homicide issued by the Travis County Sheriff's Office in Austin, Texas. Following the confirmation of the active warrant, Munoz was turned over to the Maverick County Sheriff's Office located in Eagle Pass, Texas.

Port Director Pete Beattie of the Eagle Pass Port of Entry stated, “This apprehension underscores our unwavering commitment to keeping our borders secure and our communities safe.”

The arrest was facilitated by information obtained from the National Crime Information Center (NCIC), an automated database that shares information among law enforcement, including outstanding warrants for various offenses. The CBP's use of NCIC data has previously resulted in arrests for crimes such as homicide, escape, money laundering, and more.

CBP is a major law enforcement agency in the United States, tasked with securing borders and facilitating lawful travel and trade. Their ongoing efforts aim to enhance national security through collaboration and innovation.
