On May 2, a press conference will be hosted by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) alongside various law enforcement partners in Nogales, Arizona. The event will focus on the efforts made by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and interagency collaborations in intercepting firearms traveling southbound.
The press conference will be led by key officials including Guadalupe Ramirez, CBP's Director of Field Operations for Tucson; Deputy Special Agent in Charge Ray Rede of Homeland Security Investigations, Arizona; Special Agent in Charge Brendan Iber from the ATF's Phoenix Field Division; and U.S. Attorney Timothy Courchaine, District of Arizona.
During the conference, recent interdictions will be highlighted, and the total number of firearms intercepted this fiscal year up to the latest month will be announced. Attending media will have an opportunity to film firearms and related items seized in the Southwest Border area.
The event is scheduled for 10 a.m. MST at the Mariposa Port of Entry, with media arrivals commencing at 9 a.m. MST. Those interested in attending must RSVP by 5 p.m. on May 1. For those unable to attend in person, a video link of the event will be available upon request.
