A Queens Village, New York resident, Donovan Elliot, 61, has admitted guilt regarding charges of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, fentanyl, and heroin. This plea was made before U.S. District Judge Claire C. Cecchi in the Newark federal court, as announced by U.S. Attorney Alina Habba.
The investigation was led by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), during which law enforcement observed Elliot engaged in narcotics transactions. The substances involved were significant amounts of methamphetamine, fentanyl, and fentanyl-laced heroin. A subsequent search of Elliot's residence yielded over three kilograms of methamphetamine, nearly 500 grams of fentanyl-laced heroin, and over 260 grams of fentanyl, along with a firearm and ammunition.
The Information to which Elliot pleaded guilty includes a charge that could result in up to 20 years of imprisonment and a maximum fine of $1,000,000. His sentencing is planned for September 16, 2025.
Special recognition was given by U.S. Attorney Habba to the special agents of HSI Newark, under the leadership of Special Agent in Charge Ricky J. Patel, for their role in the investigation. The government in this case is represented by Assistant U.S. Attorney Joseph Stern, who is part of the Opioid Abuse Prevention and Enforcement Unit in Newark.
