U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) has partnered with U.S. Customs and Border Protection's Office of Trade Regulatory Audit (TRA) to address trade threats at Florida's ports. This initiative establishes a permanent presence of TRA representatives within the HSI Tampa office to enhance enforcement capabilities.
The partnership aims to bolster enforcement of international trade regulations, aligning with the President's Executive Orders and safeguarding economic security. "This collaborative partnership and a shared commitment to safeguarding our nation's economic integrity, HSI Tampa and TRA are standing united against trade threats that jeopardize the livelihoods of American workers and the stability of our economy," said HSI Tampa Special Agent in Charge John Condon.
Both HSI and TRA will leverage their strengths to address illegal trade practices, under the framework of the Trade Enforcement Coordination Center (TECC). This effort seeks to protect American businesses and ensure compliance with trade laws, targeting violations such as antidumping and textile fraud.
“Because of this strong relationship between Tampa HSI and TRA that allows us to work closely together—sharing information, aligning knowledge, and building mutual trust—we can deliver the disruption needed to counteract sophisticated financial and trade crimes,” stated Executive Director Anibal Marrero from the CBP Office of Trade.
The partnership, initially active in Tampa, also extends to San Diego, California, and Tucson, Arizona, field offices.
