Ambassador Murray travels to Japan and South Korea for APEC meetings

U.S. Senior Official for Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC), Ambassador Matthew Murray, is set to embark on a visit to Japan and the Republic of Korea. The trip will take place from May 5 to May 17, 2025.

Ambassador Murray's itinerary includes stops in Tokyo, Fukuoka, and Osaka in Japan from May 5 to May 11. During this time, he aims to foster public-private collaboration and emphasize U.S.-Japan economic security efforts. Additionally, he plans to engage with key APEC partners at Expo 2025 in Osaka.

Following his activities in Japan, Ambassador Murray will proceed to Jeju, Republic of Korea. From May 11 to May 17, he will participate in the Second Senior Officials’ Meeting (SOM2) and related meetings as part of the APEC Korea 2025 host year. At SOM2, the United States intends "to leverage APEC to advance America First Foreign, Trade, and Investment Policies," working alongside senior government officials, business leaders, and other stakeholders from across the Asia-Pacific region.
