Operation Magnolia leads to arrests along I-10 corridor

U.S. Border Patrol's New Orleans Sector, in collaboration with Homeland Security Investigations and local law enforcement, conducted Operation Magnolia to address illegal immigration across the Interstate-10 corridor in Mississippi. The operation led to the apprehension of 48 individuals from Mexico, Nicaragua, Kazakhstan, Honduras, Colombia, and Guatemala. Additionally, three U.S. citizens face federal charges.

Acting Chief Patrol Agent Adam Calderson stated, “If you attempt to smuggle narcotics, contraband, or illegal aliens through Alabama, Mississippi, or Louisiana, you will be caught, prosecuted, and put in jail.” He emphasized the commitment of the U.S. Border Patrol to uphold national laws.

The operation took place during the last week of April and resulted in significant seizures including $104,000 in U.S. currency and multiple firearms. Eight individuals will be prosecuted for re-entry after deportation under 8 USC 1326 and one individual faces charges for attempting to use false documents under 18 USC 1546(a).

The New Orleans Sector oversees a seven-state area covering approximately 362,310 square miles which includes Louisiana and parts of neighboring states such as Mississippi and Alabama.
