Daemien Thompson, a 39-year-old resident of Oak Hill, West Virginia, has pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine. The plea was entered in Beckley, West Virginia.
Court documents and statements revealed that Thompson conspired with others to distribute methamphetamine in the Southern District of West Virginia from November 27, 2022, to December 6, 2023. On November 27, 2022, Thompson and an accomplice sold 446 grams of methamphetamine to a confidential informant for $2,600. Thompson admitted his involvement in this transaction and acknowledged that his co-conspirators made additional sales to the same informant at various locations.
Thompson's guilty plea included admissions of participating in controlled purchases of high-purity methamphetamine on three occasions: December 5 and December 14, 2022, and February 2, 2023. The total amount involved was approximately 2.59 pounds.
Sentencing is set for September 12, 2025. Thompson faces a mandatory minimum sentence of ten years up to life imprisonment, at least five years of supervised release, and a potential fine of $10 million.
Thompson is one of four individuals indicted by a federal grand jury for their roles in the drug trafficking conspiracy. All have pleaded guilty. Phillip Gray also from Oak Hill will be sentenced on August 8 after pleading guilty on April 17. Leondus Whittenburg from Beckley awaits sentencing on July 3 following his March plea. John Gray from Oak Hill is awaiting sentencing after pleading guilty last September.
The announcement was made by Acting United States Attorney Lisa G. Johnston who praised the efforts of the FBI, ATF, and the Central Regional Drug and Violent Crime Task Force.
United States Magistrate Judge Omar J. Aboulhosn presided over the hearing with Assistant United States Attorneys Timothy D. Boggess and Brian D. Parsons handling prosecution alongside former Assistant United States Attorney Timothy Andrew D. Isabell.
