Trevor Sands, a 51-year-old resident of Culver City, California, was sentenced in federal court in Lincoln, Nebraska, on May 1, 2025. Sands faced charges related to conspiracy to distribute and possess methamphetamine with the intent to distribute. United States District Judge Susan Bazis imposed a sentence of 57 months' imprisonment. Following his prison term, Sands will undergo three years of supervised release.
The case unfolded when investigators from the Lincoln/Lancaster County Narcotics Task Force discovered that Sands was involved in mailing methamphetamine packages to at least two recipients in Nebraska. A significant breakthrough occurred on May 13, 2022, when authorities intercepted a package at the Ulysses Post Office in Nebraska. A cooperating witness confirmed that this package contained methamphetamine shipped by Sands from California. Upon examination, investigators found half a pound of methamphetamine inside and identified a fingerprint linking it to another California individual collaborating with Sands.
From May to September 2022, law enforcement intercepted three more packages containing methamphetamine sent from California. Surveillance footage captured Sands mailing one of these packages. The Nebraska State Patrol Crime Lab verified that each package contained methamphetamine weighing between one-quarter pound and one pound.
On February 8, 2023, authorities executed a search warrant at Sands' residence in Culver City, uncovering additional methamphetamine. During questioning, Sands admitted his involvement in distributing the drug and collaborating with others to mail it to Nebraska.
The investigation was conducted by the Lincoln/Lancaster County Drug Task Force in conjunction with the United States Postal Inspection Service and the Los Angeles Police Department.
