Kevin P. Davidson, U.S. Attorney | U.S. Attorney for the Middle District of Alabama
A Georgia man has been sentenced to 20 years in federal prison for transporting a minor across state lines with the intent to engage in sexual acts. Acting United States Attorney Kevin Davidson announced the sentencing of Darvin Jerrell Williams, aged 28, from Douglasville, Georgia. On May 7, 2025, a federal judge ruled that Williams will serve a 240-month prison term, followed by five years of supervised release. He is also required to register as a sex offender. It is important to note that federal inmates are not eligible for parole.
According to court records and Williams' plea agreement, he began communicating with a pre-teen girl from the Middle District of Alabama through text messages and social media in December 2023. Williams expressed his desire for a sexual relationship with her on several occasions. In January 2024, he traveled to Alabama, picked up the young girl, and took her back to Georgia. The girl was reported missing the same day she left with Williams. Law enforcement quickly located her back in her hometown the following day.
In August 2024, a federal grand jury indicted Williams on charges of unlawfully transporting a minor across state lines and coercion and enticement of a minor to engage in sexual activity. He pleaded guilty to these charges on January 29, 2025.
The case was investigated by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and the Tallassee Police Department. Assistant United States Attorney Tara S. Ratz prosecuted the case.
