A Honduran man has been sentenced to 18 months in federal prison for illegally reentering the United States after deportation. Kristian Alexander Hernandez Aguilar, aged 29, had previously been deported from the U.S. five times.
According to court documents, law enforcement encountered Hernandez Aguilar on July 18, 2024. In September of the same year, he was convicted in the Iowa District Court for Scott County for operating while under the influence.
Upon completing his prison term, Hernandez Aguilar will serve a one-year term of supervised release. It is noted that there is no parole available in the federal system.
The announcement was made by United States Attorney Richard D. Westphal of the Southern District of Iowa. The case was investigated by the Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and Enforcement and Removal Operations.
