U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the Del Rio Port of Entry in Texas seized a significant quantity of weapons and magazines during outbound operations over the weekend. The seizure occurred on Sunday, May 11, when CBP officers selected a 2013 Ford E-350 van, which was traveling to Mexico, for inspection.
Port Director Liliana Flores praised the efforts of her team, stating, “Our frontline officers continue to do exceptional work as they maintain a strict vigilance.” She attributed the successful seizure to "a combination of officer experience, advanced technology, and tireless effort."
The vehicle and its utility trailer were subjected to a nonintrusive inspection system scan and canine examination. A further physical inspection revealed 15 weapons and 24 magazines hidden within commodities inside the vehicle. The items were confiscated by CBP.
Following the seizure, Homeland Security Investigations special agents began a criminal investigation into the matter.
