A Rochester man has pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography, according to U.S. Attorney Michael DiGiacomo. Daniel P. Walsh, aged 58, entered the plea before U.S. District Judge Charles J. Siragusa. The offense could result in a maximum sentence of 20 years imprisonment and a fine of $250,000.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Kyle P. Rossi stated that Walsh was identified by the Rochester Police Department in November 2024 after Google reported an account linked to him for containing child pornography. Following this report, the Rochester Police and FBI executed a search warrant at Walsh's residence, seizing multiple computers and digital devices. A forensic analysis revealed that Walsh had received and possessed over 600 images and videos of child pornography. These materials included depictions of prepubescent minors involved in sexual acts with adults and children being subjected to violent sexual abuse. In several cases, Walsh superimposed the faces of minors he knew onto these images.
The investigation leading to Walsh's plea was conducted by the Rochester Police Department, led by Chief David Smith, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation Child Exploitation Task Force, under Special Agent-in-Charge Matthew Miraglia.
Walsh is scheduled for sentencing on September 9, 2025, at 9:30 a.m., before Judge Siragusa.
