U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, chair of the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee, is set to host an event titled "Chartering Excellence: A Policy Briefing on Charter School Innovation" on Thursday, May 15. The event will focus on enhancing access to charter schools to provide students with education tailored to their needs. The National Alliance for Public Charter Schools supports this initiative and has been a long-time advocate of Cassidy's efforts in this area.
Senator Cassidy will present his legislative proposals aimed at expanding educational choices for families. These include the Equitable Access to School Facilities Act and the Educational Choice for Children Act. A panel comprising leaders from various charter schools nationwide will discuss the role of these institutions in student empowerment.
The panelists scheduled to participate are Ruben Morris, Founder and CEO of Alabama Aerospace and Aviation High School; David Taylor, Superintendent and CEO of Dayton Early College Academy; Dr. Laura Cassidy, Founder of Louisiana Key Academy Public Charter School; Donnell Bailey, Regional Development Director at TeachPlus; and Lorenzo Romero, President of BASIS Educational Ventures.
