Madison County man indicted on multiple child exploitation charges

A Madison County man has been indicted on several charges related to child sexual exploitation, according to an announcement by U.S. Attorney Prim F. Escalona.

John Justin McCall, aged 53, from Madison, Alabama, faces a five-count indictment in U.S. District Court. The charges include four counts of sexual exploitation of children and one count of possession of child pornography.

The indictment alleges that between May 2023 and October 2023, McCall coerced and enticed minors into engaging in sexually explicit conduct for the purpose of producing child pornography. He is also accused of possessing child pornography. McCall has prior convictions for criminal sexual abuse in two separate cases in Illinois.

The investigation was conducted by Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Huntsville, with assistance from the Lamar County Sheriff’s Office in Paris, Texas, the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, Huntsville Police Department, and Madison Police Department. Assistant United States Attorney R. Leann White is handling the prosecution.

This case is part of Project Safe Childhood, a national initiative launched by the Department of Justice in May 2006 aimed at addressing the growing issue of child sexual exploitation and abuse. This initiative combines federal, state, and local resources to locate and prosecute individuals exploiting children via the Internet while also working to identify and rescue victims.

It should be noted that an indictment contains only charges; a defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
