Two Philadelphia men, Kysem Humphrey and Jayquan Jett, have been charged with possession of a machine gun. The United States Attorney David Metcalf announced their arrest following an indictment. The charges stem from an incident on December 17, 2024, when officers from the Philadelphia Police Department found firearms modified to be fully automatic hidden under the defendants' clothing as they boarded a SEPTA bus.
If convicted, Humphrey and Jett each face a maximum sentence of ten years in prison. The investigation involved the Philadelphia Police Department, SEPTA Transit Police, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Special Assistant United States Attorney Meagan Gordon is prosecuting the case.
The indictment's charges are accusations at this stage. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
