The Blockchain Association has announced that Summer Mersinger will take on the role of Chief Executive Officer, as part of its ongoing efforts to influence digital asset policy in the United States. The announcement was made on May 14, 2025, by the association based in Washington, D.C.
Mersinger is currently a Commissioner at the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), where she has been involved in shaping federal regulatory policies affecting financial markets and digital assets. Her last day at the CFTC will be May 30. She brings over two decades of experience in public policy and regulation to her new position at the Blockchain Association.

Mersinger succeeds Kristin Smith, who expanded the association from a single staff member to an influential organization with over 125 member companies. The board expressed gratitude for Smith's leadership during a crucial time for the industry.
Sarah Milby, currently Head of Policy at Blockchain Association, will serve as interim CEO from May 16 until Mersinger assumes her role on June 2.
The association continues its mission to establish a supportive regulatory framework for digital assets in the U.S., aiming to encourage innovation while ensuring consumer protection and maintaining national competitiveness.
