Timothy Kenneth Barber, a 45-year-old resident of Hartshorne, Oklahoma, has been sentenced to 293 months in prison for second-degree murder. The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma announced the sentencing.
The charges were brought following an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Choctaw Nation Lighthorse Police. Barber pleaded guilty on November 5, 2024. Investigators stated that on December 20, 2023, Barber fatally shot his victim with a .22 caliber rifle at close range in Pittsburg County. The crime took place within the Choctaw Nation Reservation boundaries.
U.S. District Judge John F. Heil III presided over the hearing at the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma. Barber will remain in U.S. Marshals Service custody until he is transported to a designated United States Bureau of Prisons facility to serve his sentence without parole.
