Story City man pleads guilty to drug distribution conspiracy

Timothy T. Duax U.S. Attorney | U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Iowa

A Story City man, William Clark, Jr., has pleaded guilty to conspiring to distribute methamphetamine and fentanyl. The plea was entered on May 8, 2025, in a federal court in Sioux City.

Clark, aged 40, was convicted of one count related to the distribution conspiracy. During the plea hearing, he admitted that between January and April 27 of 2024, he collaborated with others to distribute at least half a pound of methamphetamine and over 1,700 fentanyl pills.

On April 21, 2024, Clark and two accomplices were traveling to Colorado intending to acquire more methamphetamine and sell fentanyl pills. They engaged in a high-speed chase with law enforcement during which Clark made a false emergency call in an attempt to evade capture and avoid drug trafficking charges.

Sentencing will be determined by United States District Court Judge Leonard T. Strand after a presentence report is completed. Until then, Clark remains under the custody of the United States Marshal. He faces a mandatory minimum sentence of five years' imprisonment with the potential for up to forty years behind bars. Additionally, he could be fined $5 million and subjected to at least four years of supervised release post-incarceration.
