A Honduran national, Rossel Geovanny Recinos Arita, has been charged with reentry of a removed alien. Acting United States Attorney Michael M. Simpson announced the charge on May 12, 2025. Recinos Arita, aged 30, was discovered in St. Tammany Parish on or around February 24, 2025. He had previously been deported to Honduras on June 19, 2018.
If found guilty, Recinos Arita could face up to two years in prison, a fine of up to $250,000, one year of supervised release, and a mandatory special assessment fee of $100.
Simpson emphasized that the bill of information is merely a charge and that guilt must be proven beyond a reasonable doubt.
This case is part of Operation Take Back America. The initiative aims to combat illegal immigration and eliminate cartels and transnational criminal organizations while protecting communities from violent crime perpetrators. It involves collaboration between the Department’s Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces and Project Safe Neighborhood.
Simpson commended U.S. Customs and Border Protection for their investigative work in this case. Assistant United States Attorney Paul J. Hubbell from the General Crimes Unit is leading the prosecution.
