Utah man sentenced for involvement in sexual assault video shared online

Nasouh Albasis-Albasis, a 27-year-old resident of West Valley, Utah, has been sentenced to 110 months in prison and a life term of supervised release. This follows his guilty plea on January 23, 2025, for charges related to child sexual abuse material. The sentencing was delivered by Senior U.S. District Court Judge Tena Campbell.

The case involves the sexual assault of a 14-year-old girl in the back of a vehicle in 2017. The incident was recorded and shared on social media. Albasis-Albasis's co-defendants, Dodjim Leclaire and Richard Djasserambaye, have also received sentences. Leclaire received 208 months in prison while Djasserambaye was sentenced to 181 months; both will serve life terms under supervised release.

Court documents reveal that on September 9, 2017, Albasis-Albasis along with Djasserambaye and Leclaire produced sexually explicit images involving the victim who was severely intoxicated and incapacitated at the time. Djasserambaye recorded the assaults which were later posted online. Albasis-Albasis admitted to having videos of these assaults on his cell phone.

This case saw joint investigation efforts from several law enforcement agencies including the FBI Salt Lake City Field Office and various local police departments such as West Jordan City Police Department and Syracuse City Police Department.

Prosecution was led by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Utah as part of Project Safe Childhood. This initiative aims to tackle child sexual exploitation through collaboration between federal, state, and local resources to locate offenders and protect victims.
