Rachel C. Hernandez Acting United States Attorney for the District of Arizona | U.S. Attorney for the District of Arizona

During a week of enforcement operations from May 10 to May 16, 2025, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Arizona charged 310 individuals with immigration-related criminal conduct. The charges included 125 cases of illegal re-entry into the United States and 170 cases of illegal entry. Additionally, 15 individuals were charged with smuggling illegal aliens within the District of Arizona.

These cases were referred or supported by federal law enforcement partners such as Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Enforcement and Removal Operations (ICE ERO), ICE Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), U.S. Border Patrol, Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), U.S. Marshals Service (USMS), and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF).

Recent cases include:

- **United States v. Angelica Ramos-Lopez**: On May 10, Angelica Ramos-Lopez was charged with conspiracy to transport an illegal alien, birth certificate fraud, and aggravated identity theft after being stopped at a checkpoint near Gila Bend with a child who was not her own.

- **United States v. Yolanda Mendivil-Diaz**: On May 13, Yolanda Mendivil-Diaz was charged with reentry of a removed alien following her previous removal in 2014 after a felony conviction.

- **United States v. Jose Herrera Daniel**: On May 14, Jose Herrera Daniel faced charges for attempting to illegally export ammunition into Mexico when officers found over six thousand rounds hidden in his vehicle.

A criminal complaint is a formal charge but does not imply guilt; individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt.

These actions are part of Operation Take Back America, an initiative aimed at combating illegal immigration and transnational crime through resources from the Department's Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETFs) and Project Safe Neighborhood (PSN).
