On May 15, enforcement operations led by ERO San Diego resulted in the arrest of Jesus Bahena, a 49-year-old Mexican national. Bahena has a criminal history that includes convictions for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, obstructing law enforcement, and dissuading a witness. Despite having been removed from the United States multiple times, Bahena re-entered the country without admission or parole and was found residing illegally within the U.S., continuing to violate federal laws.
Following his arrest, Bahena received a notice of intent to reinstate his previous removal order. His case is now being prosecuted under Title 8, U.S. Code, Section 1326. He has been taken into custody by the Bureau of Prisons and is awaiting arraignment before a U.S. magistrate judge.
The public is encouraged to report crimes and suspicious activities by calling 866-DHS-2-ICE (866-347-2423) or completing an online tip form.
