Man sentenced to 12 years for orchestrating home invasion from prison

Sean Patrick Curtis, aged 29, has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for orchestrating a home invasion while already serving a state sentence. The incident occurred on January 17, 2023, when two men entered a Nevada home and held a family at gunpoint. During the invasion, an adult victim was assaulted and robbed.

Court documents revealed that Curtis directed the perpetrators from within the Mississippi Department of Corrections using social media and FaceTime. His actions targeted a former girlfriend. Earlier this year, Curtis pled guilty to cyberstalking charges.

U.S. District Court Judge Glen H. Davidson handed down the sentence of 144 months imprisonment with an additional three-year supervised release period.

U.S. Attorney Clay Joyner commented on the case: “This defendant, from prison, directed a home invasion which terrorized a family and could have ended in greater tragedy.” He credited the FBI's investigative work and Assistant U.S. Attorney Addison's efforts for achieving what he described as "the proper result – prison for a violent offender."

The investigation was conducted by the FBI, with prosecution led by Assistant U.S. Attorney Julie Howell Addison.
