Jorge Humberto Caballero-Umana, a 37-year-old Salvadoran national, has been sentenced to 30 months in federal prison for the offense of being a deported alien found in the United States. This information was released by Acting U.S. Attorney Justin Whatcott.
Court records indicate that Caballero-Umana is originally from El Salvador and had been lawfully removed from the United States on two occasions, first in January 2018 and again in January 2020. Despite these removals, he re-entered the country illegally without proper authorization. Special agents from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) encountered him in Ada County in June 2024.
Caballero-Umana's criminal history includes state felony convictions in Utah, as well as federal convictions in both 2018 and 2019 for being a deported alien found within the United States.
Acting U.S. Attorney Whatcott expressed appreciation for the work done by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), specifically their Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO), during this investigation.
