U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) held a change of command ceremony at the Albuquerque Sunport International Airport, marking the swearing-in of Jeremy Brodsky as the new Port Director for Albuquerque. The event took place on January 23 and was attended by family, friends, colleagues, and local dignitaries.

The ceremony featured the CBP Honor Guard posting the colors, the national anthem, and remarks from Hector Mancha, El Paso Director of Field Operations. During the event, Mr. Brodsky accepted the El Paso Field Office guidon from DFO Mancha before taking his oath of office.

Mr. Brodsky expressed his commitment to his new role: “I am truly honored and humbled to accept the role of Port Director for U.S. Customs and Border Protection at the Port of Albuquerque, New Mexico. Standing before you, I’m reminded of the dedication, sacrifice, and professionalism that defines our organization,” he said. “Taking on this role is both a privilege and a responsibility I do not take lightly.”

As Albuquerque port director, Mr. Brodsky will focus on preventing terrorists or weapons from entering the United States while managing immigration issues related to entry into the country. He will also oversee customs and agriculture inspections at ports of entry to ensure compliance with U.S. laws and regulations.

With over 15 years in service, Mr. Brodsky brings extensive experience in various operational environments such as airport, seaport, and express consignment operations. His career with CBP began in 2009 at the Port of Bangor in Maine.

In his previous position as Port Director in Indianapolis, Indiana, Mr. Brodsky managed several facilities including Indianapolis International Airport and expanded enforcement efforts significantly increasing narcotics seizures in FY23.

Before Indianapolis, he served as Port Director in Fairbanks, Alaska where he worked closely with local tourism boards to enhance passenger operations.

Mr. Brodsky holds a bachelor’s degree in public management and political science along with a master’s degree in leadership; he has pursued further studies towards an interdisciplinary doctorate.

CBP's adoption of formal change of command ceremonies since 2008 aims to unify its workforce while emphasizing its mission as America's largest law enforcement organization dedicated to border management.
