ICE finds unaccompanied minors during Alabama worksite operation

ORGANIZATIONS IN THIS STORY

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) conducted a worksite enforcement operation in Theodore, Alabama, on May 15, which resulted in the discovery of two unaccompanied minors and five adult illegal aliens. The minors, both from Guatemala, entered the United States in 2023 as unaccompanied children. They have been transferred to the custody of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Office of Refugee Resettlement.

During the operation, it was noted that neither minor was enrolled in school or had relatives nearby. ICE referred them to the appropriate authorities for care.

The five adults apprehended during this operation are citizens and nationals of Guatemala and Mexico. Among them is an individual with two prior removals from the United States. These individuals are currently held by ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations as they await immigration proceedings.
