American Petroleum Institute (API) President and CEO Mike Sommers has expressed approval following the U.S. House of Representatives' passage of its 2025 tax reconciliation bill. In a statement, Sommers said, "We applaud the House of Representatives for passing the One Big Beautiful Bill Act to help restore American energy dominance."
The bill aims to maintain competitive tax policies, begin reversing the 'methane fee,' open lease sales, and make progress on permitting. Sommers described this legislation as "a win for our nation’s energy future."
Sommers also mentioned API's intention to collaborate with the Senate to enhance pro-investment provisions and maintain America's leadership in energy innovation.
