Milwaukee man receives federal sentence for armed robbery of postal carriers

On May 22, 2025, Huria H. Abu, a 22-year-old Milwaukee resident, was sentenced to 148 months in federal prison for his involvement in multiple armed robberies of U.S. postal carriers. The incidents occurred between October 2022 and March 2023 in Milwaukee. Following his prison term, Abu will be under supervised release for five years.

Court records reveal that Abu and his co-defendants, who referred to themselves as the "Scamily," targeted U.S. postal carriers at gunpoint to obtain arrow keys. These keys were then used to steal mail from receptacles. Several co-defendants have also been sentenced for their roles:

- Jessie L. Cook, age 21, received a sentence of 94 months in prison with four years of supervised release.

- Abdi A. Abdi, age 24, was sentenced to 96 months in prison followed by three years of supervised release.

- Darrion M. Allison, age 24, received a sentence of 72 months in prison with five years of supervised release.

- Abdi I. Baba, age 27, was sentenced to 120 months in prison followed by three years of supervised release.

The investigation was conducted by the FBI’s Milwaukee Area Violent Crimes Task Force and the Milwaukee Police Department. Assistant United States Attorneys Abbey M. Marzick and Bill T. Berens prosecuted the case.
