Senate HELP Committee approves Trump labor and education nominees

The Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee has approved seven nominees from President Trump's administration for key positions in the Department of Labor, the Federal Mine Safety and Health Review Commission, and the Department of Education. The approval was secured through a party-line vote of 12-11. These nominations will now proceed to the Senate floor for a final decision.

HELP Committee Chair Bill Cassidy emphasized the importance of these confirmations: "As chair of the HELP Committee, confirming President Trump’s nominees is the top priority," he stated. "Getting these nominees confirmed is vital to advancing our pro-America agenda."

The list of nominations includes Julie Hocker as Assistant Secretary of Labor for the Office of Disability Employment Policy at the Department of Labor; Marco Rajkovich as Commissioner of the Federal Mine Safety and Health Review Commission; Wayne Palmer as Assistant Secretary of Labor for Mine Safety and Health at the Department of Labor; Henry Mack III as Assistant Secretary of Labor for the Employment and Training Administration at the Department of Labor; Kirsten Baesler as Assistant Secretary for Elementary and Secondary Education at the Department of Education; Kevin O’Farrell as Assistant Secretary for Career, Technical, and Adult Education at the Department of Education; and Nicholas Kent as Under Secretary of Education at the Department of Education.

Under Dr. Cassidy's leadership, this marks a total advancement by the committee on 13 nominees from President Trump's administration.
